Outreach Committee Meeting
The Outreach Committee met on September 14 after the 10:00 a.m. service. We were very fortunate to have been joined by Deacon Dennis Coleman, a good friend of and familiar face at St. Andrew’s.
Dennis refers to himself as a “Street Deacon,” one who engages directly with people living on the margins. His main message: One must engage with the people that we serve to best serve them. Put differently, what we might think the community we serve needs is not necessarily what they do need. Engaging with the community often reveals surprises and enables more effective service.
We look forward to Deacon Dennis joining us at a future coffee hour to share his experience and lessons that he has learned through his many years serving the needy.
We are grateful to Pam Bennett for representing St. Andrew’s within the Guatemala Companion Ministries. St. Andrew’s has been involved in outreach efforts in Guatemala as part of the Companion Diocese program of the Diocese of Pennsylvania. The mission of the dioceses in the companion relationship includes mutual encouragement and prayer, intensified understanding and concern, and the exchange of both spiritual and material resources. Companion relationships are to strengthen the Anglican Communion through the direct experience of interdependence across cultural and geographical boundaries. Pam will organize a Guatemala Sunday at St. Andrew’s in early 2026.
Coventry Food Pantry
Thank you to all who supported Coventry Food Pantry. St. Andrew’s parishioners donated a meaningful quantity of food and personal hygiene products, for which there is a critical need in the Pottstown area.
St. Andrew’s collects food and personal items on an ongoing basis for the Coventry Food Pantry, which serves over 100 families within the OJR school district. Please consider donating canned goods, cereal, and personal items (toothpaste, shampoo, paper products,
feminine products, baby products, etc.). Items can be left in the Biddle Room.
One More Thing
The Outreach Committee is open to anyone with an interest in furthering St. Andrew’s charitable mission in the community and beyond. We welcome your participation! Doug can be reached at dougpratt@verizon.net.
