Fellowship Fun This Fall – Mark Your Calendar!

Fellowship is so excited to bring you the latest schedule for the fall events we have planned. We are looking forward to those that can attend. Also, we are in need of volunteers to assist with the events. We look at these events as a means to celebrate the season and come together to enjoy our fellowship. As usual, we count on you and invite everyone to make your mark on one of these events.

The first event (our big kick-off!) will be our Parish Picnic planned for September 13th, the Sunday after Labor Day. The picnic will follow the combined 10am service. Parishioners have always enjoyed this event and we anticipate this one will not disappoint…don’t miss it. We feel that this event is a great time for fellowship and look forward for all to attend. Hamburgers and hot dogs along with the usual toppings will be provided. We will be looking for volunteers to assist with side dishes, desserts and beverages, as well as support with set up and clean up. A sign-up sheet can be found on the table outside the Upper Hall or you may click here. Weather permitting, we will hold the picnic outdoors. The playground and outdoor activities will be available for younger children to enjoy. The fire pit will assist with tasty s’mores for those adventurous to roast marshmallows. Any ideas or equipment to assist in this endeavor would be appreciated.

The Adult Dinner Party will be another date to look forward to this fall. With the help of Reverend Ben, we will be presenting a “Mystery Dinner Theater”. Save the date…Friday, October 16th at 6:30 pm in the Upper Hall. More info to come!

We are also working on a completely new event for this fall. We will be hosting a “Wine and Cheese Book Review” on Sunday, November 15th at 6:30pm in the Upper Hall. Fred Reinhardt has introduced us to a book by Peter Kreeft titled Between Heaven and Hell: A Dialog Somewhere Beyond Death with John F. Kennedy, C. S. Lewis and Aldous Huxley. In a fictional dialog among these men, this book examines their beliefs on life after death. You don’t need to read the book prior to the event; we will be doing a presentation on some of their passages. However, several copies of the book have been purchased and will be distributed to those interested in reading it. Unfortunately, the book is not available from the community libraries. We expect lots of discussion to follow on how you feel about their perceptions during this get together! More details on the distribution of copies of the book will be coming in the near future.

Once again, we cannot go without putting out a big “Thank You” to all who have assisted with our coffee hours this summer. Our “Pop-up” coffee hours in the Narthex after both the 8am and 10am services have been well received by parishioners. Thank you to all who have contributed to their success! Remember; coffee, tea, water and juice are provided by the church. For those that volunteer in the coming weeks: all we ask is to bring a small treat to share with your fellow parishioners, make coffee and then clean up afterwards. So, mark your calendar for 3 big fall dates…...Sunday afternoon September 13th, Friday evening October 16th and Sunday evening November 15th. We invite all to attend and to even bring a friend. We look forward to seeing you and joining us in our efforts to keep you engaged in our church social life.
