Say Good-bye to these hot summer days

and look forward to our “Cool” fellowship fun this fall.

Our “Pop-up” coffee hours in the Narthex after both the 8am and 10am services have been well received by parishioners. Thank you to all who have contributed to their success over the summer months. With just a couple of weekends left open, we are in need of a few volunteers to assist by bringing a small treat to share. Keep in mind; coffee, tea, water and juice will be provided by the church. The sign-up sheet, with QR code that enables you to sign into “sign-up genius,” remains on the table outside the Upper Hall. Thanks in advance for signing up to assist with any of these still open dates.

Come September we will be going back to our usual post 10am service coffee hour in the upper hall. The change coincides with the beginning of our fall activities. We are excited about the fall events we have planned. The first event (our big kick-off) will be our Parish Picnic planned for September 13, 2026, the Sunday after Labor Day. Parishioners have always enjoyed this event and we anticipate this one will not disappoint…don’t miss it. We feel that this event is a great time for fellowship and look forward for all to attend. Hamburgers and hot dogs along with the usual toppings will be provided. We will be looking for volunteers to assist with side dishes, desserts and beverages, as well as support with set up and clean up. Weather permitting, we will hold the picnic outdoors. The playground is available for younger children to enjoy. The fire pit will assist with tasty s’mores for those adventurous to roast marshmallows. We would love to be able to set up other lawn games/activities for everyone to enjoy. Any ideas or equipment to assist in this endeavor would be appreciated.

The Adult Dinner will be another date to look forward to this fall. We are planning this to occur in October; final date to be announced. As you know, these dinners have typically been themed events. What will be the theme? When will it happen? Great questions…stay tuned.

We are also working on a completely new event for this fall to be held in November. We will be hosting a “Wine and Cheese Book Review”. Fred Reinhardt has introduced us to a book by Peter Kreeft titled Between Heaven and Hell: A Dialog Somewhere Beyond Death with John F. Kennedy, C. S. Lewis and Aldous Huxley. In a fictional dialog among these men, this book examines their beliefs on life after death. You don’t need to read the book prior to the event; we will be doing a presentation on some of their passages. However, several copies of the book have been purchased and will be distributed to those interested in reading it. Unfortunately, the book is not available from the community libraries. We expect lots of discussion to follow on how you feel about their perceptions during this get together! More details on the timing and the distribution of copies of the book will be coming in the near future.

Autumn will also bring other noteworthy events. We look forward to working with family ministries on, our annual Trick or Treat UNICEF coffee hour. In addition, we will be hosting, along with Reverend Ben our Annual Family Meeting. Lunch will be provided at this event. Finally, this fall we will be celebrating St. Andrew’s Day, hosted by the Altar Guild.

So, sit back, relax and enjoy these final days of summer because we will have a lot to do and share this coming fall. We look at these events as a means to celebrate the season and come together to enjoy our fellowship. As usual, we count on you and invite everyone to make your mark on one of these events.
