Rector's Warden's Report

Holy Fire, Hymns and Honey!

As we enter the month of May, we find ourselves in the middle of the joyous Easter season. As the month progresses, we will move toward the completion of Christ’s earthly ministry and the promised arrival of the Holy Spirit. We will celebrate Ascension Day on Thursday, May 14, commemorating Christ’s return to the Father, followed by our celebration of Pentecost on May 24. Pentecost marks the official end of the Easter season, and we look forward to gathering as a community to welcome the Spirit’s presence among us. Pentecost is one of my favorite feast days—don’t forget to wear red!

No celebration is complete without music, and while we are still in search of a permanent music director, I am pleased to report that we will have music at every 10 a.m. service in May. Special thanks to Ed Kellogg, Tom Riley, and John Eblacker for lending us their

musical talents! Rev’d Ben continues to interview candidates for the music director role.

The joy of the season is not just found in our sanctuary. It is blooming all around us, and I am happy to share some sweet news about St. Andrew’s property! The Vestry has made the decision to place three honeybee hives in the field on our property that is down past the gardens. This allows us to breathe new life into an area of our property that has been underutilized. Tim Ferris at Extract and Box installed and will maintain the hives. There is no cost and we will have the option, if we choose, to purchase honey at wholesale price. This arrangement is a win-win because it allows us to be good stewards of our property and God’s creation, and it allows us to strengthen our relationships and partnerships within the community. There is also the potential to donate honey or sell honey as a fundraiser, and we are free to put our own labels on the honey jars.
