Hello St. Andrew’s! I am excited and honored to begin my term as Rector’s Warden on the Vestry. I want to extend a sincere and very heartfelt thank you to Tom Riley for his many years of service on the Vestry and as Rector’s Warden. Tom did a phenomenal job, and I have big shoes to fill!
I attended my first Vestry meeting as Rector’s Warden in February, and I was incredibly impressed by this amazing and dedicated group of volunteers. The Vestry is comprised of a perfect blend of members continuing in their current terms, past Vestry members who are rejoining for a new term, and members who are new to the Vestry at St. Andrew’s. Rest assured that you are in great hands with this group. Thank you to all those who recently completed their terms on the Vestry. A lot of great work was accomplished that we hope to carry forward in the upcoming years.
The biggest news for April is of course that the Great Fifty Days of Easter are upon us — that radiant stretch of time from Easter Sunday to the Day of Pentecost in which we, as a people of the Resurrection, are called to dwell in the joy of Christ's victory over sin and death. This is not merely a single Sunday celebration but a whole season of alleluias, a time to reflect deeply on what the empty tomb means for our lives and for the life of the world. We are invited to walk with the Risen Christ just as the disciples did — encountering him in the breaking of the bread, in one another, and in the surprising places where new life breaks through. As we journey through these fifty days, let us carry the Paschal joy outward into our community and our world, bearing witness to the hope that Easter proclaims: that love is stronger than death, that light has overcome the darkness, and that in Christ, all things are being made new.
As we continue in our celebration of the Risen Lord, we also continue our search for a Music Director. This search is a top priority and continues in earnest. Our goal is to preserve the beautiful combination of organ and choir at our 10:00 a.m. worship service, but we are not afraid to get creative in our efforts to keep the music going until we settle on a permanent replacement for Audrey. Thank you to everyone who has and will contribute to the music at our 10:00 a.m. service until we can fill the Music Director position with the right person!
