Outreach had a busy November! We finished October with an annual favorite: Trick or Treat for UNICEF. The children had a blast, and we raised $315 to support their mission. Check out the pictures below! Outreach made our regular delivery to the CFP; thank you to all who continually give to this drive. We also donated some extra items to the healthy snack/ backpack program.
We made our monthly delivery of a home-cooked meal to the Atkinson men’s shelter. A call of thanks to all our dedicated cooks and drivers. I have personally heard from the shelter leaders and staff that our monthly meals are greatly appreciated. On the note of food, our big event this month was our Bridge of Hope/ Good Samaritan Thanksgiving dinners collection. Ten fresh, complete Thanksgiving meals were delivered to Bridge of Hope this year. Way to go St. Andrew’s!
Bridge of Hope is one of my favorite long-standing missions of the Outreach committee, and I am humbled and proud of our church for such loyal support of our neighbors. Food insecurity and/ or difficult times can happen to any one of us, at any point in life. This mission is an excellent reminder of how very real suffering can feel, and how easy it is to forget when we are not personally suffering at the time. One of the core values of the Outreach committee is to share Christ’s love through our actions; what better way to worship in our daily lives? As Jesus declares in John 6:35, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
