This time of the church year is full of anticipation for musicians. Hymns, anthems, and organ voluntaries commemorate All Saints Day, Thanksgiving, Stewardship, and the end of the church year on Christ the King. Here at St. Andrew’s, we also look forward to St. Andrew’s Day (being celebrated this year on the Sunday after Thanksgiving). These are all times of reflection and rededication as the cycle of the church begins anew.
I am excited to share this Advent-Christmas-Epiphany season with you at St. Andrew’s this year. In addition to our regular Sunday worship we are happy to announce the return of Lessons and Carols on Sunday, December 19, at 5:00 p.m. Traditional in format, this ritual incorporates many great hymns and carols of the season, plus choral and instrumental offerings. On Christmas Eve, services at 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. will celebrate the birth of Christ. In addition to our usual sense of celebration, we also feel both relief and hope as we slowly come back together in the wake of a long pandemic slumber.
All children and youth are invited to participate in an Intergenerational Choir for Lessons and Carols and the Christmas Eve service at 4:00 p.m. More information will be coming out soon. All voices are welcome and needed!
The choir continues to rehearse on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. and on the first Thursday of the month at 7:30 p.m. Care to join us?? We would love to see you at our rehearsal on Thursday, November 4th!
